General discussion

help with controling/adjusting the "Hyper Transport".

Apr 3, 2011 6:51AM PDT

Hello everone,

I am planning to OverClock my pc. I have downloaded a few test-cases of how other people have overclock their systems, but one bit of information is still a bit murky. How to control and/or adjust the Hyper Transport setting in my system. The motherboard manual was not very generous with this sort of information.Happy Is their anyone out there who have a similar system and have successfully overclock it? Could you please leave some tips or tricks you have used to adjust the Hyper Transport mechanism here. In my Bios there is a menu call "Cell menu", under this is the option "HT Link control", under this is 2 channel "HT incoming and outgoing link width" under this is the option "Auto"(which I do not want-I think), "8 bit" and "16 bit" which is most appropriate for my system? Do I set the incoming & outgoing value at the same value or should the be a slight difference in these value. Any other information/input you found useful during your own "OC" session would be great appreciated.

Sincerely, Thank you to all participants.
