Help with connecting camera to PC

May 19, 2006 12:27AM PDT

I have a Fuji S3000, been using it for a couple of years, suddenly I can't transfer images from camera to pc! I have tried uninstalling driver and then reinstalling it twice, but still won't work. I can still take photos, but now can't transfer them!! Hope someone can help me!
By the way, I'm not very technically minded, so please keep it simple!

Use Card Reader

I 2nd the suggestion on use of a card reader.
You can buy them almost anywhere: Fry's, Comp USA and even Walmart.

Buy the multi card type: cost is in the $10-15 range.

Plug it into any USB port. The computer will sense the new hardware, load the appropriate software from its own list and you're off.

Plug the camera memory card into the correct slot and within a few seconds a box with options will appear. Choose what you want to do.
Once the selection box comes up, you can also Cancel and then go to My Computer and look for the new Removable Disk Icon. Double click on it and there are your pictures in a folder. You can copy to where ever you want.

CAUTION: do NOT reformat the card when connected to the computer. Only do that when the card is installed in the camera. Depending on the camera formatting, you could end up with a card that is useless.

We have 2 cameras and have never even loaded the software that comes with either of them.

The problem....

....may be with the connection cable. After a couple of years' use it may be broken inside, or the "heads" may have worn out and not making good contacts. Yes- card readers to the rescue !
