Help with camera to Computer connection?

Jun 14, 2005 12:42PM PDT

Hey> me and my friends record stuff like every weekend on this camera of mine its kind of old but i was wondering if there was anyway for me to hook it up to my computer so that i can edit the hours of film we have.. Its a Sony handycam video 8 XR CCD-TR517 NTSC. It only has the video/audio plug in and a hole that says RFU DC OUT.. it doesnt have an s-vido plug in. I was wondering if there is any video cards or software that would make it possible for me to edit, or if i should just stop tryin or buy a new camera. Thanks

You have the cable to connect the camcorder to your TV.

If you do, then you use a video capture card to capture the analog video, then off you go to your editing. About 50 bucks for most desktops.

http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=WINTV-GO&cat=VID notes a card I have 2 of, the audio is captured with the PC's sound card.

That package is about 1/2 the retail price of same since you have to download the drivers from hauppauge. I don't offer any support so be sure of your own skills here.
