help with buying an audio system

by tarunlal / August 28, 2009 2:20 AM PDT

Hi...I am writing from India.

I was looking at buying a good home audio system and have been recommended the following configuration by a local retailer:
Jamo D590 speakers
Marantz PM 7003 Amplifier
Marantz CD player5003

I have also been given an option of a higher end speaker called EPOS M22i.

I will really appreciate if someone could assist me with the same.

Thanks...Tarun Lal

Two things

You say you want a home audio system... Do you want something for movies and music??? Because the amp is just Stereo, 2.0 only.

2nd since it is an just an AMP, what are you using to decode the audios, beside the cd player??? And can that cd player decode the audio???

A receiver can turn 2.0 music into 5.0+, also have multi rooms options, then you can put speakers everywhere too fill the house, including speakers outside.

Thanks for replying...I already have a home theatre system (Bose Lifestyle) in my movie room. I am looking at purchasing a "audio only" system for my living room. Thanks

The Marantz with the Jano's will blow away your Bose system.

For EPODS, have never heard of them but there are hundreds of speakers companies out there.

EPOS M22i or B&W 683 or Jamos

Thanks...between Jamos and B&W 683 (both floor standing speakers), what would you recommend. Thanks

Found pro reviews on the Jamo and B&W, but could not find one on the EPOS.

Jamo is better then the B&W's, but the Jamo's have a downfiring Sub. If you have carpet under where the speaker will set, personaly I would pass and see if they made a model with front firing sub, if you have tile, it would be OK, wood is the best for downfiring. I can not say anything about the EPOS, the specs I found where limited and did not list the db's or the low end #'s, just the highend #'s.

Does the dealer have these setup for you to lisen too?? If so take a mix of (CD's not MP3) music you like and have them play them for you. Close your eyes and have them switch between speakers (with out telling you what is what) have them play louder then you like, very low and everywhere in-between... Test them.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
