And a link to how some people found the problem...and then resolved it using that patch linked above.

I have a Dell Dimension 4700
Pentium 4 520 2.80 Ghz
512 Memory
80 Hard Drive
Windows XP home
I have Norton and was going to change to the AVG free antivirus but in reading they said "If you have Windows XP and Roxio CD Burner, then you need a released update to fix a problem running Roxio CD drivers with AVG free addition". I have Sonic Record Now CD Burner which came with Dell computer. Sonic bought Roxio. I don't know anything about drivers. How do I know if Sonic Record Now uses the Roxio driver. How can I find out. I don't want to download AVG until I cross the t's and dot the i's. Thank you in advance for any info you can give.

Thank you Toni (M) for responding. I called Sonic Record Now and asked them if they used the Roxio driver. They just bought the company. He said they did not use the driver. I am asking these questions before a problem. My Norton doesn't expire for a while and have been pleased with them as I have not had any problems. Thank you again.

If you use Sonic and they don't use a Roxio driver, there would be no conflict for you if you switched to AVG......
What have I missed that I'm not understanding what you wanted information about?
