no this wont lose your programs dont worry

simply go to the Run box on the Start Menu and type in:

sfc /scannow

This command will immediately initiate the Windows File Protection service to scan all protected files and verify their integrity, replacing any files with which it finds a problem.

hopefully this should find your corrupted file then prompt you to insert your windows cd then it will replace the file with a fresh copy. try this first
if it doesnt work there are more steps to take but try this first as its the easiest and uncomplicated
post back with results cheers dan

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
