HELP! Which should I buy& why??Canon Zr200 / Sony HC21MiniDV

Dec 5, 2005 1:48PM PST

I have narrowed it down to these two dv minicamcorders b/c of price, value, ease , size but Sony is still about $75+ more than the Canon. We'll use it to film the kids sports, beach trips, etc. Want to be able to transfer it to our computer, make dvd's from it, etc.

Go to a store and get your hands on them, which one feels better, which one is easyer for YOU to use, are controls hard to reach, etc. Then decide . John

Sony HC21
Dec 7, 2005 5:54AM PST

I just bought the Sony HC21 this last weekend, and it is on sale at Best Buy for $359 I think. A decent price for that range of cameras...could have spent a lot more..buy why? I love it!!

I have been playing around with it around the house, very easy to use. EXCEPT...the software that comes with it. Save yourself a lot of frustration and just use the Windows Movie Maker. I don't have firewire, so am transferring with USB, which works fine, slow, but fine. The Pixela program that comes with the camera wouldn't recognize my CD burner drive..problem after problem, etc.

SO, great camera, comfortable, compact, easy to use...software, sucks.. Use the Windows stuff and you'll be fine!!
