Help. Westell Versalink and Intel Pro 2200BG Card

by alsaxon / October 20, 2006 4:19 PM PDT

Hi All,

Please help me. I have been through 3 of these modems thinking they were faulty but now I am convinced that it must be something else. I can connect to other modems in my complex - assuming someone has their modem on and it is unsecured, but I can rarely connect to my own. I have a dell laptop and intel card. What the hell is the problem? Are the Versalink and the Intel Card incompatible? I have tried everything and tech support has not been helpful - they just give up and send me a new modem which obviously is not the problem. I have tried every channel between 1 and 11. I have increased my power management under the wireless interface to maximum. I even changed from WEP to WPA to OPEN. I still get frequent disconnects and if I can connect it is slower than dialup. Meanwhile, usually the wireless icon shows connected with excellent signal strength and 54mbps. What is the problem? Since the icon says 54mbps should I assume the card is okay and it is the modem that may be incompatible? I really don't know what else to try. Can anyone offer any more suggestions or help me to decide what modems are definitely compatible with my wireless card. I am running windows xp, pentium M on a Dell XPS laptop.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
