Help wanted to upgrade system.

Sep 10, 2006 8:12AM PDT

Hi guyz,
I have a Pentium 4 , 1.7 GHz processor with 128 Mb RAM on an Intel D845GVSR board that runs no faster than a tortoise.
What solutions are available to me for increasing the performance of my system and upgrading it?
I'm a general home user with no desire to make my PC a GAMEBOX. Just wanna 've it simple and quick.

Add a 512MB memory module.

1. Check Crucial.com to find what type of memory is compatible.
2. Shop around for a good brand and price for the type you need.

We have one of those at the office.

The i845 board with the Socket 423 Pentium 4 and SDRAM benchmarks at about the same as our Pentium 3 at 850 MHz. That SDRAM really takes a bite out of the CPU performance.

It's too late to do anything about that but 128MB RAM is 1/2 what I'd want to see. Try doubling the RAM.

...you get the point. Upgrade the RAM, like the others have said.
