Hi,
I have bought a Sony DCR PC 350 E ( Eurpoean model ) camcorder from B & H photovideo in April second week. Now the zoom buton is not working. I have taken it tolocal sony service centre ( India ), they told me that the circuit board has to be changed and it would cost me around 700 dollars. I bought the camcorder from B & H for 1000 dollars. I Called B & H they said this camcorder is not got from Sony US, so Sony US would not cover warranty for it. And B & H says they have 90 day warranty against it and it expired so they said they can not help me. Sony US says they willo not service it since it is eurpoean model and they are not responsible. B & H says this is a direct import which I was not aware of. The strangest part is I did not get any warranty card for this product.
Now the problem is
Sony US says it is not responsible since it is eurpoean model
B & H says the warranty period of 3 months is over so they are not responsible
When I called SOny India customer care they said since this does not have a warranty card it could well be a duplicate product and hence they are not responsible.
Ultimately I have paid 1000 dollars for a a good camcorder from a good brand and I am being asked to shell out another 700 dollars now.
I am not sure how to tackle. I felt I am being cheated by Sony and B & H or one of them.
A Bad product has been sold and neither Sony nor B & H is taking responsibility for it.
Can somebody help me in tackling this situattion. I do not mind shipping it to US and get it serviced if B & H or Sony is ready to pay for the service and parts.
