1.) This forum is reserved for posting issues related to the Cnet forums themselves. For other issues, you should consult the forum listing and choose the most appropriate forum. In your case I would suggest the Windows Vista forum.
2.) You likely just need to enter your system BIOS and change look for a SATA/PATA/RAID compatibility setting. The exact name/location varies.
3.) A hard drive cannot be 'seen' by the operating system until it is formatted, something you can do under Windows Vista using Disk Management.

WHEN IM TRYING TO INSTALL WINDOWS VISTA OR ANY OTHER MY COMPUTER WILL NOT RECOGNIZE MY SATA HD BUT I CHECK IT ON MY BIOS AND EVERYTHING IS FINE THERE I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO I THOUGHT IT WAS MY HD AND I PURCHASE ANOTHER 1 AND I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM INSTALL A IDE PATA HD AND I WAS ABLE TO INSTALL WINDOWS ON IT AND PLUG MY SATA WITH A OS ON IT AND IT DETECTED ON MY DIVECE MANAGER AND ITS SAID THERE IS NO PROBLEMS WITH THAT DRIVE BUT IT WILL NOT SHOW IT ON MY COMPUTER
