Ok, so i accidentally used a home basic cd for reformatting my computer instead of a home premium cd, what should I do?

Perform an upgrade installation from Basic to Premium.

The CDs actually contain all editions, but the key unlocks one specific edition. Just perform an upgrade installation from Home Basic to Home Premium and you should be good to go.

Hope this helps,
John

You can't download Vista. Use your dvd.

You use your Windows Vista DVD to perform thee upgrade. If you have it in hand, why insist on throwing it away and trying to use something else? (Hint: You MUST use the DVD.)
