Your camera uses standard alkaline AA batteries or rechargable NiMH batteries.
There are a number of companies that sell NiMH AA batteries and chargers. Including all of the big battery companies.
I have had good luck with several different brands.
Cannon does not make batteries so they also buy them from someone else.
What is mah?:
mAh stands for Milliamp Hour, a technical term for how much power a particular battery will hold. Digital camera batteries with higher mAh values last longer without requiring a recharge, allowing you to take more photographs before you have to recharge your batteries.
It is recommended when placing batteries in a digital camera that their mAh values match. i.e. don't mix an 1800 with 2300s. Have them all the same.
....
I recently bought a canon a80. I'd like to get rechargeable batteries for it but am confused by what the different numbers mean 1800, 1900 2300 mah. Do I have to get Canon or can I get any nimh. The salespeople are no help. One told me he thought any kind would work as long as they were nimh, but didn't sound too sure of himself.
Thanks to anyone who can help.
