Help Understanding Lenses

Nov 18, 2004 1:05AM PST

This is no doubt a commonly asked question. I am very new to photography and could use a couple of links that describe different types of lenses along with thier uses. I am particularly interested in telephoto lenses for wildlife photography. Can anyone point me in the right direction for clear and relatively easy to understand information for a beginner.

Thanks in advance,

Txbow

There is a ton of information on that subject.
Since I don't know exactly what you are looking for,
my suggestion is to go to:

http://www.google.com

Search on --> wildlife photography telephoto

That will give you a few thousand links that cover the subject nicely.

I was kinda hoping for a site that someone had experience with. I can do a search and wade through the 1000's of responses to find the best ones but hoped to avoid that by asking here. Thanks anyway.

I suggest that you check out the nearby bookstore. There are some good books explaining all details for camera, lenses, and accessories. Many magazines are helpful, but avoid those with excessive advertising. Yahoo and goodgle websites create some links to many good web, too. However, the information is eventually quite limited if you really want to become a real expert quickly. Be patient, hang in there, it takes years to learn for taking a few good picturs. Good luck.
