The resolution of standard definition video is 720x480 (NTSC).
That is the equivalent of less than 1mp.
The extra pixels on camcorders are used for things like image stabilization, widescreen, still pictures, etc.
I am interested in buying a miniDV camera but am a bit confused about the video resolution listed. From the cameras I have looked at, they list the video actual resolution for example as 2057k pixels, which from my limited knowledge seems much less than most digital cameras! Can someone please explain to me how this works if different than digital camera resolution, and give me an idea of the kind of video quality I can get with different ranges of resolution. Thanks ![]()
