HELP! UNABLE TO READ DATA

I had created data cd ( MS word/ pdd/ pdf files and some jpeg images) using Nero 7 express on my pc ( win xp pro). But now i am able to recover 1/4 of the data. Most of the MS word and pdf/pdd are not opening. I get the messages like" unable to open OR unable to find path OR invalid path or entry" etc. I am able to view all the doc and picture icons. Is there any explanation why I m able to recover only part of the data?
PLEASE HELP !!!! I NEED TO GRET MY OTHER 80% of data.
