help transferring otulook contacts to new machine for ppc

Apr 30, 2005 2:04PM PDT

Hi All- I'm new to the forum and hope that someone can help me. I originally went with the t-mobile ppc because of the sync function. I was through accidently dropping my phone and losing all my contacts. This worked great untill I purchased a new machine. an emachines 3256. I love it, but it appears that it only has outlook express which is incompatible with the outlook 2002 cd that was included with my phone.

Here is what I have attempted so far.

1. I've tried to re-install the original outlook 2002 cd but it keep prompting me for a 25 number key. The key from the new machines doesnt work, the key from the outlook on the old machines doesnt work( I got the outlook 2002 key from belarc advisor),

2. I've tried transferring the files from the old active synch on my old machine to my new machine. The active synch on the new machine doesnt recognize my partership name and keeps prompting me for a new partnership

3.If I pulg the phone cradle into the old machine the contact populate, but I cant then symch it with the new machine.

I'm back to the very thing I had hoped to avoid. Being left without my contacts. I would appreciate any suggestions or ideas. T-mobile support chuckled and suggested that I find, "a suitable e-mail client". I went out on the net and found easy office, but I'm not quite sure if I need all of that. Another suggestion made to me was Thunderbird.

I would appreicate some help in that not having my contacts is a real problem.

I just want to security of having all of my contacts with me wherever I go.

Thanks in advance for your help

OL2002 is copy protected.

The version you have may be the infamous one machine only type. It's a ploy to enforce the copyrights. I can't help you in this respect.

As to the OL2002 data, the Google of either OL2000 BACKUP or OL2002 BACKUP finds the backup and restore procedure. If you make it up, then you get to figure out why it didn't work.
