Help to remove a number a viruses

Operating System: Windowns XP

Complications: Few weeks ago my computer started acting up. I decided to purchase NORTON to be able to find out want virus I was infected by. Still today, I am not able to load NORTON completly. It gives me messages to unistall and reinstall.

Ithought I was infected by the Sasser worm. I have difficulties rebooting my computer and entering to some sites. In two occacions my computer shut down automaticatly. This was the message
c/windows/system32/Isass.exe

Now, I was scanning for Sasser Worm....

Last night, I scanned with TREND. Trend found five viruses.
DOS AGOBOT.NET
TROJ BOTRIC.A
BKDRHACDEF.51
BAT SASSER.A

Later I scanned Panda and Panda's result were many viruses:
W32/GAOBOT.GEN.WORN DISINFECTED BY PANDA
BACKDOOR PROGRAM.LC NO DISINFECTED
BCK/FILDROP.A NO DIS.
W32/RANDON NO DIS.
BCK/HACDEF.I NO DIS.
W32/SASSER.FTP DISINFECTED
BACKDOOR PROGRAM.LC NO DIS.
BK/FILDROP.A NO DIS.
W32/RANDON NO DIS.
BACK/HACdEF.I NO DIS.
TRJ/QHOST.GEN DISINFECTED

Is there aawy to REMOVE all???

Now, I am able to access more web sites, but the shut down and rebooting it not working.

Hi,

as you scanned with the on-line scans - did you DISABLE system restore BEFORE you started scanning??

You also could try these:

Download Ad-aware from here: http://www.computercops.biz/downloads-file-292.html
Install by double-clicking on the downloaded file.
After installing but before running, update Ad-aware by using its Globe icon.
After updating, shutdown and restart Ad-aware.
Ad-aware is ready to scan and clean your system following these steps:

Under Ad-aware 6 > Settings (Gear at the top) > Tweaks > Scanning Engine:
"Unload recognized processes during scanning."
Under Ad-aware 6 > Settings (Gear at the top) > Tweaks > Cleaning Engine:
"Let Windows remove files in use after reboot."
Press "Scan Now"
Check option "Use Custom scanning options"
Check option "Activate In-Depth Scan"
Press "Select drives\folders to scan"
Select the active partition which is usually C:
Press "Next" to let Ad-aware scan your drives...
If it finds "bad" files and registry keys, press "Next" again
Right-click in that pane and choose "select all"
Press "next"
When it asks to remove all checked items, Press "OK"
Close Ad-aware, reboot your system and go on to Step 2 below.

Spybot S&D
The download for Spybot S&D is available here: http://www.computercops.biz/downloads-file-108.html

Install by double-clicking on the downloaded file.
Run Spybot S&D from desktop icon or Start menu.
Press "Search for updates" button to get list of updates available.
Press "Download updates" button.
Close all IE windows and close & restart Spybot S&D.
Press "Check for problems" button.
Have SpyBot remove all it marks in red by pressing "Fix selected problems".

Close Spybot S&D, reboot your system

Empty your Temporary Internet Files and history in Internet Options. And clean out your
%Userprofile%\Local Settings\Temp
folder. It's a good idea to do that regularly.

Are all nasties gone??

Then Disable system restore: Instructions here
Reboot

Enable System Restore.

Norton has gone downhill since 2002 especially if installing the System Works version.

You got that right. Actually, before 2002. Once Peter Norton sold the rights to Symantec, it started going downhill. (Did you know, you had to be a certified tech to purchase Norton Utilities from Dr. Norton? It was never designed to be used by the general public. Symantec tamed it down a bit, and started selling it to anyone.) I have fixed atleast seven computers that had the hard drives scrambled by Norton Speed Disk. Anyone using Norton's Utilities or SystemWorks better know what they're doing. Otherwise, they may be calling me ($30 per hour, minimum three hours).
