Is there any easy way to burn some shows from a DVD onto a CD-R? I have a DVD with old public domain shows on it. It has the following type files on it: BUP, IFO, VOB. When I first start to play it a menu comes up to select the shows. I managed to transfer the files to my hard drive but when I tried to burn them onto a CD-R the program said there was not enough room on the CD-R.
How can I seperate the shows? What do the file types mean? Maybe I can take two of the shows at a time and burn them onto a CD-R? I mainly want to do this as a precautionary backup since I do not have a DVD burner on my computer. (am I making any sense?) Thank you

In order to put dvd files onto a cd you need to compress them with an mpeg4 format. divx is the most prevelent standard. A whole movie can be fitted onto a cd with reasonable resolution. The only problem: you have to play the cd on your computer with the proper codec installed, or get a dvd player certified to incorporate the divx standard. Check them out here:
