Help to defrag the computer

by jaamja / December 2, 2009 5:33 PM PST

Our laptop has Windows XP Home Edition instaled.

We tried to defrag the laptop with Windows Defrag, Smart Defrag, Auslogics Defrag but no avail.

A lot of files and folders do not defrag.

Please, help.

- I can understand that a file is not defragged. But what do you mean with defragging a folder and how do you see it isn't defragged?
- What is the common characteristic of files not defragged. Like "random", "mp3-files", "files > 100 MB"?
- Anything going wrong on your system because files aren't defragged?

Thanks for your response.

My laptop has a disk size of 75 GB.

When I try to defrag the local Disk (C)
with any defrag program that I mentioned, the report says: Used Space 57 GB., Free Space 19 GB., Total fragmentation 19%, File fragmentation 39%, Files fragmentation total files 159,000, 181 MB that did not defragment, 124 MB System Volumen Inform. that did not defragment, 70 MB Documents and setting that did not defragment.

Could you help??

Again thanks.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
