Help! The Internet Icon Isn't functioning!

May 27, 2005 4:32AM PDT

Suddenly my husband?s internet explorer icon has become dysfunctional ? no longer a link. We have used the Windows disks and asked it to repair ? at the end the computer indicates it was successful ? but guess what ? still not able to use the internet explorer icon.
He can get out to the net if he clicks on Microsoft Updates.
Internet Explorer 6 is on his computer and his operating system is Windows 200 professional ? with all the Microsoft updates
Is there any way to fix this ? short of taking it in to a computer repair shop?

The file is iexplore.exe and is located in the Program Files\Internet Explorer folder. Right click it, click Create Shortcut, and place it on the desktop.

Now.

Why did it go away? Are you running an up-to-date AV program and anti-spyware programs? It sounds like the link has been hijacked. Visit my site below, scroll down to the Anti-Spyware link.

Good luck,

Give a person a fish and you feed them for a day; teach that person to
use the Internet and they won't bother you for weeks.

My husband has tried all of the sited you listed in the Anti-Spyware Suite --- each time he tries to download ? it stalls out or it opens as a jumble of characters ? and some of the characters have a single strikethrough.
Help, please!!
Thanks,

Have you tried a System Restore?
