HELP!!! Tape backup software for home?

I have a tape backup system on my desktop. This is pecfect for me to keep a up to date backup of my files. But, where can I get backup software for tape that is not so expensive? Even free? I am not a business. Just someone that want to use tape backup. Can anyone help me?

Many of the old tape systems barely hit 1GB on a tape. Software for these are long gone but if you look at Linux distros you find tape is supported so to backup you boot into a Linux of your choice and backup.

I am running windows XP (SP3). I have a Sony SDX 460V tape system. 40GB tapes (104GB compressed).
