HELP... system error panasonic dmc-fz38 system error

I have a panasonic lumic dmc-fz38, i was brought the extra lense wide angel and telephoto
2x telephoto
0.45 wide angle
when I attatch the telephoto lens i get a system error on the screen and i can then remove it. please can someoe help me or advise if im missing something out. i have no instructions at al and dont want to break my camera

I believe you are saying you received the converter lenses as a gift.

It is my best guess that the converter lenses are not made by Panasonic.
I don't think Panasonic makes a 2X lens. Theirs would be something like 1.5X
If it is not made by Panasonic, it is likely that it is NOT compatible with your camera.

There are many universal lenses to be found and they don't work on some cameras.

You might need an adapter that fits between the camera's built-in lens and the conversion lens. Without the adapter, the conversion lens prevents the built-in lens from extending, thus causing the error message.
