Help!! Sony Vaio RS630G

Oct 4, 2004 3:03AM PDT

I am in the market to buy a new pc and thought about the Sony Vaio RS630G. The cnet review said a con was: "Older chipset means slower memory and potential future upgrade problems; more powerful systems are available for less; no unified media software."

What does this mean? Is this talking about the 512 RAM? If so, since it is upgradeable to 2GB and I do upgrade, does the con still apply?

I wanted to get this to be able to make DVDs from old VHS tapes. Is the click to DVD program any good? I was hoping to be able to make animated menus with music and hope to be able to clean up the VHS format by tooling with the brightness, contrast, blurriness, etc...

Any help would be appreciated. Also, if you want to recommend a better pc that would fit my needs, that would be great also.

Thanks,
WP
