HELP!!! Sony HDR-XR520 won't work anymore on my Intel Mac

Hi everybody, I got this problem and I can't figure out a solution...
Yesterday, for the first time since I bought a Sony HDR-XR520 camcorder, iMovie and FC suddenly stopped detecting my camera. It's still seen as an external disc, but iMovie won't import the clips the way it used to. What am I to do?

PLEASE HELP, it's quite urgent!

successfully had your Mac and Sony HDR-XR520 work together - or are you saying that another camcorder worked and the Sony HDR-XR520 is new and the Mac does not detect it?

Which version Mac OSX, iMovie and Final Cut are you using?

Have you tried manual "Log and Transfer"? It is a selection under the "File" command line item.
