Question

Help: SmartConnect Center - Wired Home - Combo Module

Aug 14, 2018 4:25PM PDT

I just purchased a home that has fiber optic internet via ont connected thru one ethernet jack in one room. Other rooms have RJ45 jacks, but no service. In the basement I found a GE SmartConnect Center with 1446 telecom combo modules. I traced the lines back to this and there was nothing connected to the in part of the 1446 module. I found the line with internet from the ont going straight to the one room but not connected to the 1446 module. I connected that line into a gigabit switch and patch it back to the one room with my wireless router to maintain servic. I then ran a line from the switch to the 1446 module in. Still nothing to any of th other jacks in the other room. Any thoughts on what I am doing wrong, or better yet what I should do right!

Clarification Request
Where does this show IP Networking support?
Aug 15, 2018 10:54AM PDT

I googled that product and it writes "Supports telecom distribution to outlets via RJ45 modular jack connections." But no hint at IP Networking or the stuff you want.

If you want to use the RJ45 jacks in other rooms why not install the usual Switched Hub and wire it up?

Where did you find info on 1446 module?

Please share the link, as I have found no significant mention of the GE 1446 combo module. Thanks.

I used google

And had to resort to Shopping link where I found no mention of networking. Looked to be for phones, not networking computers.

PS. There was not a lot of information

But the text I found about it was significant enough to tell me the module is for telephony and not computer networking.
