and that this machine is only a couple of months old, it's back to the store with this one for Apple to take a look at.
If you do not live close(ish) to an Apple store, then just call Apple on their 1-800 number and complain to them.

I got this computer December 2015. It is BRAND NEW. I started noticing, almost immediately, that it was a bit slow. I've been using apple computers for years, and my previous computers, to me, have been amazingly awesome, especially right out-of-the-box - so I was expecting this computer to be the same???
I tried to ignore the slow performance at first, thinking it would get better, or that maybe it was my wi-fi or some non-Mac issue. Now, I am just a few weeks outside of the free phone support service.
It is noticeably slow - especially for being brand new. Programs and apps are very slow to open. Many times I just end up having to force quit them because I feel like they aren't ever going to open. This includes many different ones like Office suite (Word, ppt), the calculator, Preview...etc. I'm getting quite a few random program closings and error reports and a lot of the spinning wheel. I'm thinking this is absolutely ridiculous for a brand new computer, which has so much storage space.
The most reliable program has been Mail. Safari works pretty well most of the time, but I've even been having issues with Safari loading pages slowly. Sometimes clickable links don't even open.
This is weird because, to me, the performance resembles experiences I've had on a PC that has a virus.
I've tried rebooting and that doesn't seem to make a difference. I have looked at Activity Monitor and Console, but I don't really know what I should be looking for.
