Help selecting a new MB

Need I've gone thru 2 Motherboards from Newegg. First was a Gigabyte, which was DOA. Wouldn't post. No video, no beeps.

Second was an ASUS M2N-SLI. Got the dredded "BIOS ROM Checksum" error. Tried to flash the bios to the current version, but it wouldn't take. I kept getting the same error.

So, now I'm looking for my 3 selection for under $150. Can anyone give me some recommendations? I love playing games. Wink

Here's what I have:
CPU:
AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400+ Windsor 3.2GHz CPU
MEMORY:
4GB OCZ DDR2 PC2-6400 Gold - Dual Channel
VIDEO:
GeForce 8800GT

Bad luck.

Sorry but the boards you listed have worked for others. Just not you. It is possible that the BIOS doesn't support the CPU until the BIOS is updated.

Then again we have posts where the board works in a new case. That suggests that the builder needs to rethink how they mount the board.

I'd get the board you want.

Ah.. I know. I wouldn't have purchased the boards if they didn't work. Are you some kind of comedian? [rhetorical]

And I consider myself a pretty good builder. I've built numerous systems. I'm just open to any suggestions.

Thanks anyway. ;^)

I'd get those same boards.

Something was missed or you had bad luck. Those were good choices.
