Plasma or LCD
Dec 5, 2008 1:44PM PST

Wolfgal,

Welcome to the forum, and we appreciate your past patronage.

There are lots of options to choose, and I'll outline some of the basics. I can address whatever you'd like in detail, but since you noted that you're on fact and spec overload, I'll start with some of the basic points.

Plasma Pros:
Fast action is better refreshed
Picture looks more like a traditional TV
Incredible colors
Cheaper per inch
Larger screen sizes that aren't available in LCD

Plasma Cons:
Faster for gaming, but can produce burn in.
Uses slightly more electricity (but not much!)
Glass panel can reflect if you have lots of ambient light in the room

LCD Pros:
120Hz is suitable for fast action
Far less chances of experiencing Burn-In or image retention.
Popular technology for computer enthusiasts who want to occasionally hook up their PC.

LCD cons:
Is a little more expensive per square inch

In your case you noted you wanted around 50" worth of picture.

Our LCD lines in the sizes you requested offer a 46 and 52" size, while plasma is 50, 58 and 63".

So those are the basics of our product line-up and technology. Let me know what you think.

Of course, other forum members are encouraged to jump in and make their own recommendations!
