Question

Help Restarted computer and now I get a black screeneed.

Jan 31, 2015 11:38AM PST

So I restarted my computer because it was being unresponsive and now when I log in all I get is a black screen and my mouse. I have tried restarting it multiple times and leaving it on and off for a while. It is a laptop with windows 8, i7, with plenty of ram. I have no idea what the problem is.

hdd?

Sounds like a problem with your hard drive is my guess. Not sure if you have a SSD or regular HDD but HDD do tend to die pretty often, one of the first things to go on most computers. The black screen would be from my guess is the hard drive not reading the OS correctly, could be a problem with the OS that somehow got slightly corrupted or a bad sector in your hard drive.
