Help resetting password with PN60E550 plasma

I have the Samsung PN60E550 and have not used the Smart features to any extent until recently. I downloaded the Facebook app and I now have asked for an ID and password. I recall the ID (email address) but the password I recall creating no longer works.

I would like help resetting the password but there does not seem to be a user friendly method and the web page that I was directed to: http://tv.samsungapps.com is in Japanese!

One online site I googled describes a method the requires putting the tv in standby? What does that mean and how does one do that?

Any insights or hands on guidance for resetting the password would be appreciated.

I also learned how to remove (delete) some unwanted app icons along the bottom of the Smart page but theere are several near the top of the page that I would like to remove but cannot find a way?

Many thanks for the response. I am unable to open Facebook via the Samsung app - when I click on the app icon it takes me to a login keyboard and when I enter the Facebook login info that works on my PC I get a message that tells me "unable to access the server - try again later"

Neither my Facebook login (ID and psswd) or Samsung Account login works. After installing the Facebook app I got a message window telling me that Samsung and Facebook will be synced or combined to make use of the app more effective. I am next requested to create an account via either Facebook or Samsung. There is no way to just login (that field is grayed out)?

My firmware is up to date.
