Hi All,

Blame the servers
by rnauth1418 / December 29, 2009 4:31 AM PST

Odds are there are no apple servers or mirror servers close to dubai... thus no way to feasibly attain updates... I dont know what else you can do other than go into the "local" apple store to update your computer.
What ISP are you using? I know several asian ISP's are forced to filter content. I can't imagine they would be killing apple update packets but who knows.

DNS Servers?
by GNJ / January 2, 2010 4:37 AM PST

You failed to say how you were connected --- through what ISP ---. You could be dealing with "latency", some third party ISP (like hotel service?),

It could just be a matter of your ISP's DNS servers being limited. Just for grins, try Open DNS
DNS Servers and You can do that either in your Mac's network preferences ---- or in your router
