Probably, they are only one who know how to do it, because they wrote the program.
That being said, you're not very clear about the problem: if everything is in one folder (named backup) and Windows can see that folder, why can't you access the data? Is it compacted, encrypted, renamed, all in one file? You don't tell and we can't guess.
It's ironic that this one word (backup) is a reminder of what you didn't do before starting the repartitioning. And maybe never, or you would be able to restore these data (or most of it).
A calculated risk, maybe. But still a risk, as you discovered.
And remember what Bert de Vries (a Dutch politician) once said: "If we CAN'T do what we MUST, we must do what we can."
Best of luck,
Kees
Here's what happened. I had 3 partitions (C,D,J) and tried to merge J into D using Partition Magic. I got the error 1520: External Attribute Header Mismatch. Lost D (and J) drive completely (in appareance only, thank god) and used Acronis Disk Director to repair errors and reassign the drive letter to D. So far so good, disk size is correct too. The problem now is even though Windows can see D again and inside it, I cant access the data. There is only one folder (named BACKUP) in D and everything is in there...about 130gb.
I MUST recover all of this, but I dont know what utility is good for the job.
Any input is appreciated, thanks in advance.
Oh and it's a 400gb SATA2 Seagate, if it makes any difference.
