Sorry, forgot my full specs:
Asus A8N-VM-CSM w/ integrated nvidia GeForce 6150
1.25gb PC 2100
Socket 939 Athlon 64 3200+ 2.2ghz
400w Ultra PSU (crappy gray, stock, came with case.)
120gb Seagate 7200rpm hdd
SoundBlaster LIVE! audio
1x120mm Fan exhaust in rear
Black Ultra Wizard case w/400w PSU
I'm almost positive it's the PSU. Also, I plugged the adapter into 2 molex on the same string. I think that may be it as well, but they're all I've got.
And if it's the PSU, any recommendations on the wattage I should get next, or brand and model?
Alright, so i got a radeon 1800xl from my buddy for a couple bucks, and i put it in my system. I am running a 400w PSU, which is powering a dvd burner, 120gb hdd, and the mobo with the p4 and all. Mobo is an a8n-vm-csm.
I hit the power, and it looks fine for about a millisecond. Then the pc turns off. Literally, my power button flashes for half a second, then powers off. I am using one of those pci xpress power adapters that take two molex and put it into one pci 6 pin, since my psu doesn't have the plug.
Well, the good news is, my pc works fine after I take out the card.
Just wanted a few suggestions. I think it's my PSU, and I hope it is. I am praying to god (or lack thereof) that the card isn't burnt.
