** HELP ** PRINTING 3 Photos on a 81/2 x 11 Sheet

by perdidobeach / September 13, 2008 11:33 PM PDT

I need some printing help.
I want to print 3 photos on a 8 1/2" x 11" photopaper.
I want the photos to be sized to approx 3.8" x 5.8" leaving a .2" white boirder around each photo. In other words, I want to cut the photos form the sheet and have about a .2" white border available around each. Here is the kick... some photos will need to be resized into a 4" x 6" format. Sounds easy enough but when I try to do that, some photos get skewed or the proportions are not correct. I need software that will resize to 4 x 6 and keep proportions AND let me place 3 on a sheet with borders. There has to be something that will work !
I loook forward to any and all help !

What I would use.

- Irfanview or Microsoft Photoeditor to resize the pictures.
- MS Word to put them nicely on a page.

Just tools I happen to have installed.

Just a note

As you have seen, if you resize an image file like a photo then you must keep the proportions correct. For example an image sized 8 x 12 will reduce to 4 x 6 correctly, but one sized 8 x 10 will looked skewed if resized to 4 x 6.

The only way to resize an image file like 8 x 10 to 4 x 6 is to first resize it to 4 x 5, then manually place a border around it, using a utility like MSPaint to bring the size up to the one you want.
