...to install. With Windows 2000 and XP , it's best if you DO NOT format from the floppy. Instead, the computer needs to boot from the CD which allow formatting, partition, and installation of the OS.

If you're trying to reinstall Windows 98, then the floppy format routine will work well.

In order to reset the "boot order" in the BIOS, restart the computer, then press the appropriate "setup key" for your computer. The "setup key" will vary depending on the brand name but most use one of these: F1, F2, F10, Delete, or Esc. Sometimes the setup key is indicated by a black screen while the computer is booting. Immediately after restarting the computer, begin pressing the key, once per second, till the BIOS loads. You'll then need to use up/down arrows, to navigate to the appropriate Boot order section.
