Many have pcs\monitors that go down far before that, but usually right after the 1 year warranty is up, go figure. My first suggestion to you is to try the monitor in another pc, or try another monitor in your pc. So if anyone you know has one...
Did you or anyone possibly install, change settings or add any components recently? Is your cable tight?
This could be a number of things, a bad display cable, motherboard problem, graphics card... onboard or otherwise...OS problem...
Also, I assume you have XP and a CRT monitor, not an LCD.

Last night I was on my computer for awhile, left the room for about a half hour, came back and the monitor screen was black with these like blue rectangle things all over it. So I was a bit worried so I hit the power button on the tower and proceeded to reboot. The monitor remained blank after reboot and the tower seemed to be working until it just shut off by itself and then started up again about 3 seconds later, green light and all. It didn't sound quite right though and the monitor was sill blank. The little green light on the monitor won't stay on either, it just turns yellow. So now it's the next morning and it's still acting this way and i'm not sure what to do. One of my friends said that maybe there was too much dust in it or something, but I don't know about that. I tried doing the whole dell diagnostics thing with the lights, but it just says something about a memory failure. I've only had this computer for a year. Its a dell dimension 2400 desktop with windows xp. I'm not sure what other information to include, but if someone could please help me I would be so thankful!!!!
