help please!! (tracking cookie/AIM connection problems)

by brynb / February 23, 2004 11:54 AM PST

About a week ago I had a problem where every time I opened internet explorer I would get these tracking cookies from data miner. My computer was much slower and I was also kicked off AIM constantly. I downloaded Ad-Aware and Norton Anti-Virus and they have deleted or quarantined all the viruses on my computer. However, I still lose my connection to AIM every 5 to 15 minutes. I ran Ad-Aware and Norton again but they both say that I do not have any viruses. I tried uninstalling and re-downloading AIM but that hasn?t worked either. I know that it is not a problem with my internet connection because my housemates are not having a problem staying connected to AIM and also I have no problem using internet explorer. I downloaded ?hijackthis? and this is what it came back with (I don?t know what most of it means so I don?t want to delete anything myself):

Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated because I am beyond frustrated at this point and don?t know what else to do but reinstall windows XP and I really REALLY do not want to do that.

Thank you!

I am having a similar problem... every 10 minutes or so I am disconnected from AIM and then automatically reconnected. It started several weeks ago. I ran spybot and Spyware Doctor to remove any identified items. Norton Anti-Virus does not find any problems.

Anyone have any ideas?? It's extremely annoying and I routinely miss IMs.

Same problem here. Rotten AOL(Always Off Line) has to be so nosey. Spyware Doctor always catches that nosey cookie.
