I dont understand the inf file info , but have been reading that it has something to do with the INF.???

2)when I went to settings, internet options, temp internet files, then click settings, then view OBJECTS, there are 5 items there
1) ID

Code Base

2)Java runtime env 1.4.2 date 6 3 2068
3)Java runtime envi 1.4.2 date 6 3 2068
4)symantec RUSFI utility
5)XML DOM document 4.0

what are these files and why does number 1 listed above say mine is damaged? how do i repair it or is it safe to delete. when i run windows update it says version 5 at bottom of page. the damaged file above says version 4.?___________________

also why does java runtime on 2 of them list year 2068?

Happy Holidays to all

1. Try the Autofix utility from the following message

2. You can remove item #1 (because it seems that you have Service Pack 2). Items 2,3,4,5 are OK, so leave them as they are.

P.S. In the future, always specify your windows XP version (Home Edition or Professional), as well as Service Pack.

Thanks for the tips, I did forget to put in XP home edition as OS. I looked at all the articles and reg edit values seemed ok, so then I ran the auto fix and there was an issue with current user policy. It fixed my problems in a snap! Happy thanks so much for that invaluable tip. I plan to save that for future problems if they occur.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
