I have Windows 10 on a new laptop.

And it's not doing that. You left out the details so here's the model I'm using.
ASUS ROG GL552VW-DH71

Are you sure your laptop is up for gaming?

You could have shared the PC details but opted not to. I respect your privacy and won't pry.

Time to make your PC maker fix this one.

no way to help without knowing what computer model you have. also you need to be specific and clear as to what the problem is.

Re: its

I'd start with trying another keyboard.
If that doesn't help, I'd go back to factory conditions (that is, the image you made before you started using it).
If it's still doing unexpected things, it's time to call in the 90-days warranty or - if you paid that modest 15$ - the 3-year warranty against electrical and mechanical failures.

That's not a gamer PC.

The machine is not up to the task of gaming and such a post with similar machines is all over the web.

For this few dollars you should be getting into console gaming.

Re: auto hold key

I think it's somewhat unclear to several people (including me) what you mean with "auto hold". This is how I understand your issue: "If I press a key longer than 2.5 seconds, it stays pressed and I have to press it again to release it". Well, maybe "really long" is 10 minutes, but you get the idea.

Then it's either something in the keyboard (then try another keyboard) or a setting in the keyboard driver (then change that setting).

Until solved, just don't do it (that is don't "hold something down really long"). Hold it down as long as needed only.

Could this be

that " Sticky Keys " are turned on ?

Nice idea.

Let's hope it's that. I see a very underpowered PC that should do as they wrote.

I also have run into folk that own such and write "forgetting the point" and "not helpful" since they won't accept their old gear isn't up to the game.

oh your right :D THX

How to turn off sticky keys is on the web.

Google like this.

Turn off sticky keys Windows 10

Or change that as needed for your version.

Remember to try it on a gaming PC
Jun 20, 2016 5:28PM PDT

The one you have would be OK for games about the mid 1990's.

I've run into folk that call this a bug or setting but when you have Yugo, there's not much you can do.

Remember I have a C2D with the 4500 graphics so I see that here. You seen to be new to PC gaming.

Answer
Driver or Hardware
Jun 21, 2016 5:07AM PDT

On the first hand, there is a chance that there is something wrong with the driver's configuration and settings that causes that problem you mentioned.
It might be that the driver itself is damaged, have you tried using another keyboard? Did the keyboard arrive with the computer or did you buy it separately?

On the other hand, the keyboard's keys may be defective and when you press them too long it causes your problem.
