Help: Player not detected by device manager software

I recently bought a philips HDD6330 and installed all the software on a computer. Its got windows xp personal and running on service pack 1. When i plug the player in, the computer makes the usual beep and says high speed device plugged into low speed usb hub, so the computer is recongnising the player. The player isnt recongnised as an external drive in my computer and when i open the device manager, it says that the player is not connected. The same thing happens on windows media player. The device itself says it is docked on the screen. I am pretty sure that this is a problem with the computer as I had the same problem with another mp3 player.
Any help is appreciated, Im dying to use the thing!
Thanks

Also I have the comparable problem -- technical problem

In reply to: i have same problem

Hi,

my problem is comparable, I have the same MP3 player from Philips (HDD6330, GoGear 30 GByte), but I cannot connect it in a way that Windows Media Player (WMP) can find it. At the same time under My Computer -- Manage -- Device Manager it says that the MP3 player is recognized under "Disk Drives". However, it is not show under "Portable Devices".

I rolled back from WMP 11 to WMP 10, I am using Windows XP.

I did ring to Philips. They said it is not the player, but my computer. They suggested to put the computer bac kto before the problem started, however, this had no effect.

Can anyone help me?

Thanks
