Hopefully, I can ask this question in a way that makes sense.
About me: I have about 1000 CDs that I've ripped over the years, mostly using iTunes, but some using other software. I am a Rhapsody-to-go subscriber, have 2 Rhapsody Sansa's and an Ipod Touch. I have a home Windows XP machines that has an external hard drive that I've moved my song files onto. I primarily use an Apple Macbook Pro when I'm out and about.
Problem: I want to set up a way to rip my music onto an external hard drive, have both iTunes and Rhapsody be able to library this music for playlists, etc. and be able to keep both in-sync as I buy and rip new CDs (I still buy CDs, as I like having them).
What I've experienced is that on a one-time basis, I can import music libraries into iTunes or Rhapsody and it catalogs it. However, I have not figured out how to rip my new purchases and have iTunes or Rhapsody now organize just the newly ripped music. I've ended up spending hours deleting multiple versions of the same song when I try to import again.
Hopefully this makes sense. I want to use one program (I don't care which - iTunes, Rhapsody, Winamp, etc.) to rip the music onto a hard drive. I want to be able to connect this hard drive to both my home PC and my work Macbook and update my music library on both iTunes (PC and Mac) and Rhapsody (PC only).
Is this possible? Thanks in advance.
