I hate for you to have to jump ship with the CNET forum, but I have had my best luck getting tech answers from the forums section on the Circuit City forums. They have many to choose from depending on your question. ie. Home Audio, Televisions, Computers, Camcorders, etc. I also have just purchased the Onkyo HT-S894 and they have been extremely helpful to me!!
I currently own a Sony KDS-50a2020 television, Oppo DV-980H both hooked through hdmi cord into a Ht-S894 Onkyo surround sound system (i sold the dvd player that came with it and replaced it with the oppo one). Want to know first off what picture/any other settings would be best with my television, I am usually located about 9 feet from it in a room what is dim to normal light. Also wanted to know what settings were best for my DVD player, I think I have the sound down from the manual but not sure with the picture settings. I have watched 3 movies on it, all were widescreen since that is all Netflix seems to have and both the original pirates of the caribbean and the departed showed up in that setting, but manchurian candidate fit the full screen perfectly?? Definitely prefer the full screen....I do have it on 16:9 auto. Finally, would love any configuration/settings setup advice for my surround sound system. My room is open the right with my kitchen area if that makes any difference. Thanks in advance for your help!
