HELP on my Computer

Aug 17, 2011 1:30AM PDT

My friend has just died and left me his Dimension E520 Dell Computer, it hasn't got much in the way of programs, so I have deleted all I don't need. I have installed a TP-link and got it onWireless. But I can't get through to the internet, everytime I try to get a program like Google or Yahoo it returns back a box as shown in the attachment it's saying that it wants administrator to sign a Password which I don't have. The computer is saying it wants a antiviris program but it wont allow me to get through this block. I have considered getting rid of every thing but then I havn't got a XP disk and no one has found it.and I'm not sure I know how to do that . I can't see anyway to send an attachment so here i t is, TO HELP PROTECT YOUR COMUTER WINDOWS HAS CLOSED IT DOWN I get the same answer which ever program it is. Cananyonehelpplease

Answer
So why not reset the admin password?
Aug 17, 2011 1:45AM PDT

NTPASSWD (find with google) can reset that password for free.
For those that need support you go to http://www.lostpassword.com

XP does not want an antivirus and block you so I'm going to write it's probably malware.

Before you do much you should consider that malware can do great damage and we'll want the Dell restore CDs handy. With that out of the way and the password reset you can take Grif's advice at 7726-6132_102-5098912.html?tag=posts;msg5099421

You don't need to get out and about.

That LostPassword utility can be downloaded onto the computer you are now using, and burn the file, as an ISO, to a CD, then boot up on the non-working computer with the CD inserted in the drive.

Well I downloaded and bought the basic Password, but having done that I am
totaly out of my depth,I think I will have to find someone to do it for me I can see
I'm going to ruin the thing worse than it is now.

This is why I meantion lostpassword.com.

But you never needed to buy NTPASSWD. It's free and just a boot CD. You boot it, answer a few menu numbered items and the password is cleared.

If you parted with money, let's hear why they didn't give you support for the money.

I have a Dell E520 also

Did you or would you want to restore the computer back to the factory state? If it hasn't been messed up or lost or reformated you can restore it back to the way it came from the factory. Here's the steps To use Dell PC Restore....
1. Turn on the computer - During the boot process a blue bar with www.dell. com appears at the top of the screen

2. Immediately upon seeing the blue bar press CTRL F11
3. On the next screen that appears click Restore
4. On the next screen, click Confirm. The restore takes approximately 6-10 minutes.

Well that instruction sounds good to me there is no doubt
that I could do that and I don't really mind if it takes me back to
the factory setting I have gone in the past from there .
The only problem is I just followed what you said and I can't get anything to come
up after switching on the next thing I see is the word in big capitals
DELL the word dell smaller is White on Black, after pressing Control/F11
it makes no difference it carrys on and loads.
