You left out make, model and age. If over a decade consider it gone and only for looks.
At the shops I visit these are rarely brought back or even accepted for free because here it costs to dispose of the old PCs.
I am working on restoring an old computer and a while ago I ran into some trouble. When I started the computer, it would run for around 10ish minutes before crashing and getting stuck in a boot loop. It would sometimes beep 3 times, and I didn't know what that meant. After a while I found that the longer I let it sit off, the longer it will run before crashing. I figured that it could be a cooling issue, and in this model, there were cutouts for fans, but the only fan was for the power supply. I brought out a large box fan that could probably cool the computer 3x better than the cheap Intel heatsink that was in the power supply, and I removed the case and pointed it in, and maybe the processor would cool down too, however, at 866MHz, I didn't see it getting too hot. The fan didn't help, then I researched what the beeps meant. Apparently, it was RAM related, but then I realized that we previously had trouble with the fan, so maybe it WAS that, and because the power supply is concealed, maybe the box fan wouldn't have helped. I figured that I should probably consult someone who is a little (a lot) better than me at computer stuff before I go tearing into a vintage computer. Thanks!
