Help: Normal.dot not saved

My globe template Normal.dot does not update. For example, if I add a new term into "Autocorrect", it does not work after I re-open the Word. But if I add the new "Autocorrect" manually by opening Normal.dot, then save, it will work when I open a new word file. Your help is much appreciated. Thanks.

PS. The normal.dot is located in the default directory.

Does it work that way?

In reply to: Help: Normal.dot not saved

I must admit I don't know the answer, but do any changes to a doc get saved in Normal.dot globally, or just for the Word document you have open at the time?

What I would try.

First I would copy that Normal.dot to somewhere else and rename it to Normal.old.

Then I would delete the original Normal.dot and any other instances of Normal.dot, but not that backup copy.

Then restart Word. it should re-create Normal.dot.

Start testing it.

If it fails, you still have the backup copy you can rename back to Normal.dot and return it to its default location.

Problem solved

Thanks for your suggestions, Mark and Kees. The problem was due to the add-ins from Adobe Acrobat 7.0 that upset the normal.dot. After I update the Acrobat to 7.1. It works like dream.

Thanks for your help anyway.

Glad you got it sorted.

That's a new one to me, an Adobe add-on causing problems. But then we do find that add-ons in general can cause undesired effects.

Good work though.
