Help!! No icons after SP2 install

by jam4201 / September 2, 2004 5:41 AM PDT

I installed Microsoft's SP2 on on my computer (Dell 8200) and everything went smoothly and I've seen no problems yet. Then I installed it on my husbands computer (Dell XPS). It seemed to install properly but after the reboot there are no icons. Our two computers are networked, with mine being the host. Also both computers have had regular updates and I run the anti-virus programs every two weeks. Could someone give me some suggestions please? thank you.

it's probably not this simple but right click on the deskop, arrange icons by,and see if show desktop icons has a checkmark.

Thanks, Retired and you're right it wasn't that simple. The strange part is that the background picture is there but nothing else. I hope this doesn't mean I have to reinstall Win XP. :o)

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
