help......" no audio device was installed....."

hi...

Im having a problem with my Dell Inspiron 6400/E1505...I remember I was just uprgrading this Windows Vista Service Pack 1(KB936330),I downloaded 2 times and it failed and for the 3rd time it was successful..and when I re-started my Laptap it was already having this problem..how can I have the sound back on my computer..
I am not that expert on computers,and I dont have anyone to help me out with this problem..

please help me..

I had the same problem but Vista SP1 was never offered in Windows update because of the Sigma Tel driver issue.
I downloaded the stand alone version of SP1, uninstalled the Sigma Tel driver, installed SP1, re installed the driver and had no sound.
I went to Dell support,/drivers/audio and downloaded driver R171786.
I'm not sure if this is helpful to you but thought I would share my experience. Ann
