We just replaced the hard drive in a slot loading blueberry DVD iMac. Put in an 80 GIG seagate barracuda. The jumper settings were done 3 different ways and still it's not recognized. Any suggestions? Originally there was an extra jumper (on the old hard drive.) As a last (3rd) resort, my hubby even put that on the new drive pins in addition to the jumper to make it a master. Please please please help if you can. Thanks so much. We need this little blueberry workhorse back in action.

You machine is capable of handling the 80Gb drive that you wish to install. The 8GB limit was from many years ago and only really concerned the original iMacs and OS 10.0
So, turn the machine on its back, remove the bottom cover and take the drive back out, and put all the jumpers back onto the drive where they were originally. Refer to the literature that came with the drive.
After doing that, set the jumpers so that the drive is the Master. Put it back into its housing, put in the screws and attach the ribbon cable and power cable. Make sure that the ribbon cable is securely fastened at BOTH ends.
Turn the iMac back the right way up, plug in the mouse, keyboard and power cord.
Get your OS X installation CD, or whatever OS you are using, fire up the iMac and insert the CD into the slot. Hold down the "C" key right after you hear the chime.
Let the machine boot from the CD.
Once booted, find the Disk Utility (OS X, in the Menu Bar) or Drive Setup (OS 9 in a folder on the CD) and run it. It will find the new HD and you can then Initialize the drive. Once initialized, it will appear on the desktop.
Now you can install your OS of choice onto the new HD.
You really gave no information as to what happened, what OS you are using. All this information helps.
Let us know how you got on
