Help needed w/ connecting old HP printer to new HP computer

by lizzyp01 / February 28, 2009 3:45 AM PST

Printer: HP Deskjet 722C
Computer: HP Pavilion dv9000 w/ Windows Vista (don't know which version)

I just plugged in a Printer IEEE 1284 Parallel to USB Printer Adapter Cable and nothing is printing. Am I supposed to be plugging into a certain port on the computer? Do I need to set something?

In the control panel there is an HP DeskJet 720C checked and noted "ready." When I print the computer portion looks normal, it seems to send it to queue, but I do not see the blinking light on the printer as I normally would and of course, nothing prints.

Help, please. Happy

you need special drivers for the USB converter. Does the PC not have a printer port?

printer port

In reply to: I believe . . .

If it does, I don't know which one it is. I'm (obviously) a novice here. There is nothing next to any of the ports labeled "printer." Maybe there is one and I just need help identifying it.
